The age-old adage First Do No Harm should be the tempering goal of not only medicine, but government and industry, especially when they team up to deploy new technologies, set policies and serve the people.

This blog exists to reveal and analyze areas in which these powerful groups are failing to "first do no harm."

Wisconsin Smart Meter OPT OUT LEGISLATION sample letter

(note: go here for packet to give your WI state legislators)

Date_______________________________

Dear ____________________________________________________
           (Wisconsin state senator & representative)

NO FEDERAL MANDATE says I must have a wireless “smart meter” for electric/gas/water utilities. But Wisconsin utilities and the (appointed, not elected) Public Service Commission are forcing people to have these class 2b carcinogen devices (World Health Organization) that emit bursts of radiofrequency radiation round-the-clock.
Smart meters are:
*EXPENSIVE– utilities can charge more at certain times, and new "smart" appliances are costly.
*PRIVACY & SECURITY RISKS – Cyber-attack and hacking potential. Smart Grid allows "Big Brother" data collection. Hawaii and Vermont ACLU support opt outs for privacy reasons with no penalties.
*BAD FOR TREES, BIRDS & BEES  – studies and reports show growing evidence of harm to the natural world from chronic, pulsed radiofrequency radiation.
*NOT SAFE – the American Academy of Environmental Medicine wants an immediate moratorium on smart meter installations, and replacements with safe analog meters for people who request them “until serious health issues are resolved.” Health affects accumulate and “children are at particular risk for altered brain development, and impaired learning and behavior”, they say.

Please sponsor or support a law or rule to let me OPT OUT of any future smart meters and get safe analog meters replacements for smart meters I have without penalties for protecting my health/privacy.

56 local governments in California demand moratoriums. Michigan, Maine, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Hawaii & Vermont have opt-out laws passed or in process. It’s time to do it here.
Thanks.

Sincerely,
