The age-old adage First Do No Harm should be the tempering goal of not only medicine, but government and industry, especially when they team up to deploy new technologies, set policies and serve the people.

This blog exists to reveal and analyze areas in which these powerful groups are failing to "first do no harm."

Deep Brain Stimulator for Alzheimer's questioned

Using Electrical Stimulation For Alzheimer’s Disease: John Hopkins study.

The ADvance Study is researching the use of a surgically implanted device that delivers mild electrical pulses to specific areas of the brain in people with Alzheimer’s. This deep brain stimulation (known as DBS) will be given to the fornix, a place in the brain that plays a central role in memory. Based on results of a small study of 6 patients with Alzheimer’s*, the ADvance study is designed to determine if DBS of the fornix (DBS-f) is safe and has potential clinical benefit for patients with mild Alzheimer’s.

Treating memory loss such as Alzheimer's brings with a new Deep Brain Stimulator device implant sounds like an extreme measure. The researchers are not even sure if the device is safe. So, will the Alzheimer's patients who want to particpate please raise your hands?

The investment of time, money and focus put into this potential symptom treatment brings up questions:

Question:
Why hasn't the same amount of research effort gone into PREVENTION - especially into how memory and the brain are impacted by exploding exposure to microwave/radiofrequency people now experience?

Answer:
Reducing causes would reduce suffering and costs to U.S. health care. But new DBS equipment will be a profitable endeavor as memory-related conditions continue to rise.

Question:
Why are they so very careful about stimulating the brain here, yet totally oblivious to and careless about the impact of microwave/radiofrequency radiation's impacts to brains (and bodies)?

Answer: Money and power of the medical wireless industry.

National Health Freedom organization empowers consumers

National Health Freedom organization is standing up for consumers in a unique way to empower individuals to be able to choose how they handle their health needs and treatments. They also are speaking out for electrosensitive people - an estimated 3-8% and growing - in a culture largely oblivious to the new scourge.

Here is one shining beacon of their work:

Huffington and Drudge news sources IGNORE smart meter news

From left to right and in between, big media generally ignores both local stories and the national overview of Americans' resistance to radiofrequency transmitting utility meters, called "smart meters," whether AMI, AMR or ERT types. Both the left's Huffington Post and right's Drudge Report news sources have not covered but a smidgeon of utility smart meter resistance news during the past year - 2012.

The irony is that the fight to keep safe, accurate, long-lasting, economical analog utility meters is being fought nationwide by groups made up of people from the left and right and everyone in between. THIS is truly one of the few - perhaps the only? - issue unifying citizens today. Amazing how the media won't touch it. Just amazing.

Huffington included news about Vermont smart meter opposition last May, and a brief story titled, Smart Meter, Utility Company Technology, Questioned By Michigan Public Service Commission, a year ago. The only other article found in a search was about smart parking meters in Denver - not utility meters. Huff does deserve credit for a November 2011 AP article, "States weighing pros, cons of utility smart meters," but their follow-up coverage is nonexistent.

Over the past year, this blogger regularly sent news on the smart meter front to Drudge, challenging them to cover this individual freedom issue. For example, these links were emailed on January 8, 2012:

New Smart wáter meter pushers fear pushback from consumers

Sterling Heights puts hold on “smart meters”

FCC violation of smart meter bank caught on tape

Debate heats up in Ill. town over smart meters (Naperville, IL)

None of these or any other related news ever appeared at Drudge.
A year later - January 24, 2013 - out of the blue a Chicago Tribune article appeared at Drudge about the Naperville IL resistance without prompting.
Police accompanying electricity crews installing 'smart meters' arrest 2 homeowners... ^
From the January 24, 2013 15:20:03 GMT edition of the Drudge Report.

Stories usually move down on the list over a few days. But on January 25 the groundbreaking article was gone, the spot replaced by:

SF MAYOR SUGGESTS BARS DON'T SERVE ALCOHOL DURING SUPER BOWL...

Ah, well, more important news is bound to replace mundane stories about U.S. citizens' struggles for basic freedoms and property rights. C'est la vie.

BioInitiative 2012 Update lists over 1800 NEW studies showing Radiofrequency (RF) Harm

The world’s populations – from children to the general public to scientists and physicians – are increasingly faced with great pressures from advertising urging the incorporation of the latest wireless device into their everyday lives. This is occurring even while an elementary understanding the possible health consequences is beyond the ability of most people to grasp. The exposures are invisible, the testing meters are expensive and technically difficult to operate, the industry promotes new gadgets and generates massive advertising and lobbying campaigns that silence debate, and the reliable, non-wireless alternatives (like wired telephones and utility meters) are being discontinued against public will. There is little labeling, and little or no informed choice. In fact there is often not even the choice to stay with safer, wired solutions, as in the case of the ‘smart grid’ and smart wireless utility metering, an extreme example of a failed corporate-governmental partnership strategy, ostensibly for energy conservation.
A collision of the wireless technology rollout and the costs of choosing unwisely is beginning and will grow. The groundwork for this collision is being laid as a result of increased exposure, especially to radiofrequency fields, in education, in housing, in commerce, in communications and entertainment, in medical technologies and imaging, and in public and private transportation by air, bus, train and motor vehicles. Special concerns are the care of the fetus and newborn, the care for children with learning disabilities, and consideration of people under protections of the Americans With Disabilities Act, which includes people who have become sensitized and physiologically intolerant of chronic exposures. The 2012 Report now addresses these issues as well as presenting an update of issues previously discussed...

ESPECIALLY Section 4: EVIDENCE FOR INADEQUACY OF THE STANDARDS

And from a 2013 review of the update:

RENSSELAER, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A new report by the BioInitiative Working Group 2012 says that evidence for risks to health has substantially increased since 2007 from electromagnetic fields and wireless technologies (radiofrequency radiation). The Report reviews over 1800 new scientific studies. Cell phone users, parents-to-be, young children and pregnant women are at particular risk.

Wireless Broadband emits from Home Wiring.
HFE35C analyzer gives AUDIO broadband pulse on home outlets/plugs following countywide expansion. (Signal was only a couple places in home before expansion. No wireless devices used in house, and power is OFF).

No one asked permission of families to irradiate their homes, apartments, streets, parks countywide.

American Academy of Pediatrics supports H.R. 6358 to establish safety standards

In July of this year the respected American Academy of Pediatrics wrote the FCC Chairman Genechowski asking for them to update exposure standards for cell phone radiation, which has not be done since 1996 despite power increases and usage explosion.

The AAP followed up with a letter of support for the (lame duck) legislation - H.R. 6358, the Cell Phone Right to Know Act - again, in the interest of protecting public health, especially children of all ages and pregnant women. Though this bill is unlikely to go forward it is a step in the right direction towards awareness of what needs to be done to protect future (and current) generations. An honest, thorough analysis of biological independent science is needed.

With the recent special report showing that even carrying a cell phone on the body may cause breast cancer, added to the citations the AAP lists, there is no excuse for our leaders to ignore what should be done. Besides, India's cellular radiation standards were already below America's and yet they decided to lower them even further recently to protect the public. It is time the U.S. addressed this looming crisis for our young and vulnerable populations.

The AAP cannot protect our children without your help. Please contact your federal lawmakers now to support H.R. 6358 and future bills addressing wireless radiation safety.
