We've all been waiting for songs and poems about the perils of smart meter and other transmitting radiofrequency devices, right? So,
here is the first batch I have found at an informative Texas anti-smart meter site.
And here is one of my poems on the
highly charged topic. I included it with my comments to the Department of Justice about classifying EHS (electrical hyper-sensitivity) as a functional impairment. Please share it if you like.
Goose Journal: Woodlake, Wisconsin
On November tenth, jogging around Woodlake, I whisper
to a lone goose angling away from the just-landed gaggle,
“Why not go with them?” But it holds the distance.
November eleventh, it struts from beneath an overturned boat
to block my path, hissing and flapping, one wing bent awry.
I stand with the furious goose and hiss along at the injustice.
On the twenty-sixth, ice claws the edge of the water.
The goose, with puffed-out feathers, paddles at the center
as I sprint to thaw stiff toes under wool socks and Reeboks.
December second, the goose is gone. A piercing wind
slaps tears from my eyes as I pound on alone, unable to join
my own kind at the gym where the WiFi numbs my joints and wits.
As my species flies towards the microwave-steeped horizon,
on January ninth, trudging beside Woodlake, I pray
for others like me or that goose – losers in nature’s race.
